Psychotherapy
Practice and Treatment Philosophy
Some problems persist not because they are poorly understood, but because the underlying patterns have become deeply learned.
Anxiety, perfectionism, avoidance, addictive coping, and difficult relationship dynamics often develop as adaptations to threat, uncertainty, shame, disconnection, or earlier experiences. Over time, those responses can become automatic, even when they no longer fit the present.
My work focuses on helping those patterns become more flexible.
I use a structured, trauma-informed approach integrating EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and attachment theory. Therapy may involve processing emotionally charged experiences, working with protective responses, challenging rigid beliefs, or developing new ways of responding to difficult emotions and relationships.
The goal is not simply symptom relief. It is to reduce the hold of old patterns so that more attention, energy, flexibility, and agency become available for meaningful work, relationships, creativity, and the parts of life that matter most.
I also work with addiction and other entrenched coping patterns through this same lens, addressing both the behavior and the function it has been serving.
